Rough Drafts

Rough drafts are the first versions of your final paper. Ideally, of course, they are the perfect version and you won't have to change anything anymore. But most writers, even the best, will go back to their rough drafts and rework/revise them to produce a more perfect final result.

Revising can be as simple as running a spell-check or as complicated as moving whole chunks of texts around and redesigning the argumentative structure. It all depends on how satisfied you are with the draft.

Since after a while your draft will look like a total blur to you (either to be defiantly loved because you want to be done or to be utterly hated because you cannot look at it anymore), it would be useful to let other people look over your draft to give you some outside input. The best readers would be your intended audience, of course. But if you can't find people who share the point of view you are aiming at, just ask friends to pretend. You can also see whether other students in the class would be interested in swapping drafts with you. Just ask them via the discussion board.
