Welcome to the discussion board! While we meet and see each other twice a week, the discussion forum can provide you with an opportunity to bounce ideas off each other in an informal setting--it's a chance to get audience reactions without having to do research and just to see what others are thinking, especially if you are a shy person who is hesitant to speak up in class
. You can also use the board to post reaction papers instead of emailing them. In addition, the board will function as a way for us to know what's going on in terms of (the by now infamous!) snow days. So enter and have fun! Read Instructions first before entering the forum.

(Note to students already on the Discussion Board: if you want to read a message, click on the title of that message. My first message, for instance, is called "Hi Guys"--to read what it says, click on "Hi Guys".)
Instructions
For privacy and security reasons, you will have to register the first time you enter the Discussion Forum. I have set it up this way so that a) you will be able to edit your own entries even after you have posted them; b) you can exchange private messages with me or other students, if you wish to do so; and c) so I can deny access to the discussion forum to anybody who is not in our course.
- You can enter the discussion board by clicking on the link above or at the bottom of this page.
- Once in the Discussion Board window, click on "register" at the top of the page, if this is your first time visiting the forum (if you have already registered, simply log in). Then click on:
"I Agree to these terms and am over or exactly 13 years of age"
- You will be asked to provide a User ID, password, and your email address.
- User ID: choose your first name and last initial as your User ID (mine, for instance, is meggi s). If you prefer to be called by another name, please inform me before registering.
- Password: choose a password you can easily remember--the site will also send you an automatic email confirmation of your registration, containing both your User ID and password. So keep the email.
- To get to other students' messages and/or post your own, click on the blue "Welcome--General Discussion--Questions."
- Make sure you log out before leaving the Discussion Board.
If this is your first time using a discussion board (or if you run into unexpected problems trying to post), click here to watch a short tutorial (opens in a new window).
